I started this in late March and then worked on it occasionally for short periods of time. It is my first "car manipulation" based interface. In retrospect, I can look at the final product and confidently say that 99% of the work was done by myself, which is cool because it means that car manips are a fruitful genre within interface design that I am not closed off to now. I always thought of it as cheating, but in many ways its harder than brushing or using the pen tool.

I haven't found any tutorials on it, but basically, I took a car photo that I liked, and cropped sections of it and converted the basic shapes into a template design. It took a long time, since I did it all manually with the brush tool, the selection tool, the pen tool, and so on. It can be tedious, but the outcome is worth it since it looks so cool.
ahhhh i see, so you had to utilize your knowledge and talents from photoshop to make this a possibility then. yeah it sounds let alone looks difficult.
